This weekend I got the chance to play Ultra Street Fighter 4 ahead of its upgrade release in just under 2 weeks time. This was a great opportunity to see it first hand, and to talk to other street fighter fans face to face. My first impressions were fairly good, while a more skilled Juri player might have noticed more changes, the main ones that stuck out for me were the dive kick changes (and later on the fs.MP change). I found I'd often jump back after a block string, and even though I knew I can't dive kick while jumping backwards I kept trying to do it to punish fireballs. Also a few times I had built up my Ultra meter and landed the EX dive kick, and forgot to put the extra inputs in, and so missed the Ultra... Just things to get accustomed to when the game goes live is all! I noticed when playing the following evening that LP, LP, sf.MP is a nice little combo, but soon after realised that it is somewhat limited as you can't combo the special from sf.MP - only to remember that in Ultra I will be able to! In an effort to pre-order Ultra to get the extra costumes, I noticed/realised that the Upgrade for the PC version doesn't release until the full version does. So I'll be playing Ultra on PS3, and AE on PC for 2 months. This is rather annoying as PC is where I play 'properly' online, it is where I have much higher points and ranks etc, where as on PS3 I tend to spend more time in the training lab etc - so not sure what I'm going to do there tbh, trying to play both together could prove counter productive...
